Willow McHenry’s Christmas Outreach

1

On Saturday, December 11, Willow McHenry County held their annual Christmas outreach event called “Shop and Share.” At the event, Willow McHenry opens their doors to the community and, with the help of over 375 volunteers, hands out food, toys, coats, etc. to 1,352 people that made up 500 families.

Rather than bore you with general statements, Jim Burchard was able to give us the details of what was handed out:

  • 16,500 pounds of food and 600 holiday meals (all homes with more than 5 people received 2 holiday meals)
  • 1,300 toys
  • 350 gift cards
  • 250 blankets
  • 420 coats and an uncountable number of hats, gloves, and scarves
  • 960 diapers
  • A big pile of clothing and used toys
  • 75 haircuts
  • 1,450 cookies and brownies
  • 50 gallons of cocoa
  • 876 candy canes
  • Lots of coffee and cheese and crackers
  • 1 Christmas tree
  • 9,127 hugs (give or take a few thousand)
  • And tons of hope

Praise the Lord!

I just wanted to thank the McHenry staff and Jim Burchard for inviting Casa to participate in this event. Our leaders and volunteers came back praising God for the amazing response and opportunity to serve. We will be following up soon… Blessings to you all.
