Willow Crystal Lake’s Annual Christmas Store

Willow Crystal Lake had their annual Christmas Store Event last Saturday, December 10, where they served 1173 people with 353 volunteers, gave out 10,000 pounds of food, and 720 turkey meals

In the morning, families—invited from local compassion partners—came to WCL’s store to pick items for their families. They received toys, gift cards, coats, Bibles, and diapers. Children were invited into childcare where they could pick and wrap presents for their parents as their parents were able to shop and wrap surprises for the children. As families waited in WCL’s atrium, they were able to receive free immunizations as well as cheese, treats, and hot chocolate. Kids also had the opportunity to sit with Santa, and guests chatted with the volunteers.

Toys, coats, parent gifts, gift cards, and food for the event were all donated by WCL’s congregation.

Willow South Barrington also donated the 720 turkey meals that we gave to our local community as they exited the store.

In the afternoon, the Northern Illinois Food Bank Truck—loaded with the 10,000 pounds of food—was open to the public to receive. Any toys and coats leftover from the store were then given to those people to continue with the giving.

A great day full of blessings!
