I wanted to thank each of you for your role in our recycling efforts. It was a little over a year ago that we began our recycling program in earnest and it seemed appropriate to mark our progress as we finish the year. We have made great gains and have not lost ground in our efforts.
- The amount of trash from the church going to landfills continues to decline and the staff is increasingly embracing recycling.
- We have recycled close to $15,000 of building material from the Care Center project and other metals that we collect and sell. The Care Center has been compacting our cardboard, paper, and plastic then selling it for about $1,000 per month.
- Totaling all this up over the past year our combined efforts have saved or made over $30,000 while increasing our environmental consciousness, reducing waste, and conserving resources!
- We have done this with a staff that is co-operative and increasingly enthusiastic about our progress and process.
It’s important that we maintain our progress so the program has credibility. Having said that, we all know there are additional opportunities that we would love to embrace as we are able and you will be hearing more about them throughout 2013. These achievements took a lot of effort. Thank you for your significant contribution to our success in diverting resources from landfills to Ministry and improving our stewardship of God’s creation.
