Last Wednesday, June 6th, marked the official launch of the summer season for the AXIS Ministry at Willow Creek. The day was sunny and the grills were hot as over 350 young adults in their 20s and 30s gathered on the lawn next to the lake to celebrate summer’s coming. Guests had an opportunity to listen to live music while enjoying hamburgers and lawn games, all while being offered various ways to get connected into AXIS.
One of those ways was summer small groups, which launched this past Sunday, June 10th. Over 20 groups are being offered this season, and are held both here at Willow and in homes across Chicagoland. There are also AXIS groups meeting specifically at Alpha on Sunday evenings. These groups will run through the annual AXIS Retreat, being held Labor Day weekend, August 31st through September 2nd in East Troy, Wisconsin, at Timber-lee Christian Center.
Lastly, summer at the AXIS Gathering is sure to be a fun-filled and transformational experience as preparations are being made to host three distinct series, the first of which is entitled “Contagious Faith.” All these things and more are what go into what the staff hopes to be a great summer at AXIS as the community works to “become whole and remake the world through Jesus.”
