1,257 Set to Attend Blast 2012

On Friday, January 20, Amber, a junior from Student Impact, will join 1,257 students and leaders at Pheasant Run in St. Charles for Blast 2012. Amber was diagnosed with brain cancer two months ago and has waged a battle to overcome difficult brain surgery and reclaim her memory and other functions. While the doctors held little hope, Amber and her family and friends did not give up. They prayed and clung to God and to each other—expecting a miracle.

Before Christmas, the astounded doctors released her from the hospital to come home and Amber attended the Impact Christmas service. On January 8, she attended her Rolling Meadows house group for the first time since her diagnosis, and this weekend, she will join 1,257 others for the largest Blast ever. (230 more than last year.)

Thanks to a generous gift from Willow’s congregation and leaders, 35 additional students will be able to attend—students who otherwise could not afford the entire amount.

“Please pray for safety and health for all attending Blast 2012,” says Alicia Tracy, director of operations for Impact. “Pray that God will soften the hearts of all the students who are attending so God can do amazing things in and through them. Pray for guidance, strength, wisdom, and discernment for all the leaders and staff as the engage with and shepherd the students.”
